People have all sorts of questions about God. Some questions are complex and others are simple. Sometimes people feel self-conscious asking questions about God. But sincere questions are very good, and aren’t stupid at all. Child-like questions about God are the very best sort [and often the most difficult to answer.]
These are some questions that adults have asked about God. And short [and imperfect] answers.

Q: Who is God?
A: God is the Creator – of us, of the planet, of the Universe. God is the Divine Presence. God is the supreme intelligence, and the moving cause within creation. God the Father said He is I AM. God IS. |

Q: What’s God’s name?
A: The God of the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures is Elohim [pronounced el-lo-HEEM] Within the completeness of one Elohim there is the Father, Son and Spirit. The Father’s personal name is Yahweh [YAH-way], sometimes shortened to Yah. The name of the Son is Yahshua [YAH-shoo-ah]. In modern English He is known as Jesus, but Yahshua is the name His disciples called Him. The Holy Spirit also has a name, which is Eloah [el-LOW-ah] Link to article: The Names of God |

Q: Is God male or female?
A: God is both masculine and feminine. The word Elohim is both male and female. Some people think God/dess is a good way of describing God in modern English. The Hebrew Scriptures speak of a masculine Father and masculine Son, and of a feminine Spirit or Goddess. Link to article: Eloah |

Q: Does God have a family?
A: Yes, God has a family. Scriptures refer to God’s family many times. It includes the Father, Mother and Son. And it includes you, one of God’s children. Your spirit was made by God. If you choose to, your spirit can live throughout eternity with God, as part of the Family in Heaven. |

|
Q: What does God look like?
A: God looks like us – or, more exactly, we look like God. We were created in God’s image. God doesn’t look exactly like you and I, but similar. Jesus looks human. Even though your hair and eye color, size, race and gender might be different than Jesus’, He looks similar to you. |

|
Q: How big is God?
A: God is big enough to be bigger than the vastness of the Universe, and small enough to fit inside an atom. Height, length, and breadth are dimensions that really don’t have any meaning to God. |
| |
|
Q: Where does God live?
A: God lives right here. The awareness and consciousness of God is everywhere and in every thing. God lives in the vastness of the Universe, filling the endless light years of space. Specifically, God lives in the spiritual Kingdom of Heaven. It is a presently-invisible place where Elohim lives with the Councils of Heaven, and Angels and other Heavenly beings, and the Righteous who have been resurrected. Within that Celestial Kingdom there is a Holy City, and a Temple. God also lives within kind words. And in acts of kindness. In sparkling eyes. In rainbows. And in the fragrance of newborn babies. |

Q: Why can’t I see God?
A: God is spiritual. Spiritual things are usually not visible to our ordinary vision. Our normal sense of sight gives us information only about objects in the physical world. We know there is an animating force inside our body that makes us alive. When we die, that spirit leaves us. We cannot see that spirit without normal vision, but we know it is present in order for a plant, animal, or human to be alive. We cannot see electricity, or radio waves, or radiation. Because our normal vision was not designed to detect everything that exists. God is real, but exists in spirit and at a level of vibration that cannot be seen by our sense of sight. |

|
Q: How old is God?
A: Elohim is timeless. Eternal. Without beginning, and never-ending. Time relates only to physical existence. God has always existed, and always will. God has always been God. |

Q: Why does God allow evil and suffering?
A: In part, there is evil and suffering in life because we need to gain experience, make choices, and learn to overcome challenges. Muscles get stronger only when they exercise against resistance. We learn and develop by overcoming obstacles. Another reason there is suffering is to get our attention. Sometimes it takes tragedy to get people to turn toward God. One more reason there is evil and suffering is so we can experience and appreciate happiness and joy. It is a fact that we could not comprehend light unless there were darkness; we could not know that hot is hot without knowing cold or moderate temperatures also. We are able to sense and understand things because of contrast. Without knowing sadness and grief we’d never appreciate joy and delight. |

Q: Who is Jesus?
A: Jesus is God in human form. The One God, Elohim, became the Father and the Spirit and the Son. Jesus [whose actual name was Yahshua] was God in flesh, born as a human. Jesus Christ was God, Himself, come to earth. Yahshua provides the Way for people to return to live in glory with the Father. The Bible says He is the Captain who can lead you to Salvation. Through Him, you can find eternal happiness. |

Q: Why did Jesus Die?
A: Heavenly Father made laws for His Kingdom. Physical laws and also spiritual rules. When there is a law there has to be a punishment. Gravity is a physical law. When you drop something, it must fall. When you step off a tall ladder, you will fall – and face the consequences of a broken bone. Spiritual laws define how God wants people to behave. When we break those laws, we’ll suffer consequences, too. The penalty for breaking the Father’s laws is physical and spiritual death. You and I have broken God’s rules. We’ve messed up and have broken many of them. Someone has to be punished. Someone has to die. The Law requires it. God loves you and me, and made a way for us to be saved from the consequences of messing up. God Himself came to earth as Jesus, and became a perfect man. Jesus suffered and gave up His life to pay the price for the times you and I have broken the Law. His death substituted for the death of those who put faith in Him [and also those who never heard of Him]. His resurrection three days later resulted in the gift of resurrection being given to all people. Plan of Happiness |

Q: What are Elohim’s favorite things in the whole world?
A: God is your Heavenly Parent. The kinds of things that an earthly parent treasures are most precious to God. Elohim’s favorite things include our love toward God and toward God’s children. Our prayers – our talks with God. Our gratitude and appreciation for what God has provided us. Our sincere worship of Elohim. God loves truth and honesty. God loves our best intentions and efforts. Elohim loves to watch us grow and mature. |
