What is Scripture?

Sacred writings are called Scripture. Scripture includes the sacred revelations of Elohim – the God of the Hebrews and Christians. Scripture also contains narratives of the history of God’s chosen people and their migrations.
The most famous Scripture is the Bible. There are other, less well-known Scriptures that also contain revelations of Elohim.

Bible   Nephite Records
We know of many ancient sacred records of the People of Elohim throughout the centuries. The most famous of course is the Bible. But there are many other sacred writings that are not part of the Bible, but do contain the Inspired Word of Elohim.

How Scriptures Were Recorded

The sacred words of Elohim and the acts of the ancient Righteous were recorded on a variety of media.

Scrolls made of animal skins

This method is perhaps the best-known because the Tanakh [Old Testament] has been preserved this way for more than two thousand years. Vellum scrolls are still found in most synagogues in the present day.

Metallic scrolls, pages & plates

Copper and lead were beaten thin, inscribed by a stylus, and sometimes rolled into scrolls.

Etruscan ancients wrote on leaves of gold that were assembled into a book.

Papyrus Scrolls & Codices

Papyrus was paper made of reeds, first invented in ancient Egypt. Papyrus was inexpensive, but not as durable as other media.

Stone Objects & Tablets

Objects excavated in Newark, Ohio, USA engraved in Hebrew, establish a Hebrew presence in ancient America.

Thousands of slate tablets and objects unearthed in Michigan, USA, depict ancient Hebrew and Christian scenes and writing

Rock Carvings

Las Lunas, New Mexico. Ten Commandments in Paleo-Hebrew script [in common use before 500 BCE] were engraved into a rock wall.
